Warner Bros' response to new footage of "2001"... →
The additional footage from 2001: A Space Odyssey has always existed in the Warner vaults. When Kubrick trimmed the 17 minutes from 2001 after the NY premiere, he made it clear the shortened version was his final edit. The film is as he wanted it to be presented and preserved and Warner Home Video has no plans to expand or revise Mr. Kubrick’s vision. Phew.

Instead of doing my homework, I’m thinking about writing a year-end music list. I’m limiting it to five albums. The first four spots on the list are pretty much set in stone. But that fifth spot is so hard to fill. Best Coast, The Roots, and Male Bonding are the most likely candidates for the fifth spot.

I’m numbering all of these Facebook fads. Let’s see how many I can accumulate. I don’t dislike things that actually make people feel good, kindness campaigns are good. But these are all artificial. You can only say so much on a public forum. Can’t show your real self.

The latest feel-good Facebook fad involves this: you send a number into a person’s inbox and then having received that number, you make a status update about that person, just using their number. This status update normally is something good and nostalgic. It’s supposed to be an anonymous thing. However people like to react to their number’s status which makes the whole anonymity...
